ITINERARY

(SUNDAY) DAY 01: IQUITOS - NAUTA - MARAÑON RIVER - NAUTA CAÑO

Upon your arrival at the airport, we'll be waiting to begin your adventure. We'll take a city tour of Iquitos, a colorful, vibrant city with a captivating past. On this tour, you'll see the city's most iconic attractions.

Next, we'll travel by private vehicle to the city of Nauta, the historic river port where we'll embark. Upon arrival in Nauta (about two hours from Iquitos), we'll board La Perla, and our staff will escort you to your cabin, which we've specially equipped with all the comforts you need for a truly enjoyable trip.

The boat will begin its journey along the Marañón River. At this point, the naturalist guides will present the itinerary, the routes to be followed, and the scheduled activities. Best of all, they will begin to introduce us to the wonderful world of Amazonian wildlife. Pay attention to their advice and recommendations, and keep in mind that if you have any questions, our guides will always be available to assist you.

Following the onboard presentation, we will have a welcome lunch, your first taste of the delights of regional cuisine. The menu offers several options, including a vegetarian alternative. If you have any special requests, please let our crew know in advance so we can accommodate them.

Before dinner, we will begin a nighttime boat excursion to the Nauta Caño area, in search of animals that can only be seen when the sun goes down: caimans, bats, frogs, tarantulas and other species that populate the lush forest of our jungle.

After this first immersion in the jungle world, we will return to the boat to enjoy dinner, rest and recover our energy.

(MONDAY) DAY 02: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE - YANAYACU DE PUCATE - SAN REGIS - AMAZONIAN NATURAL PARK

In the morning, we'll enjoy a fun picnic breakfast on the banks of the Yanayacu River in Pucate, one of the best-protected and preserved areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Later, we'll take a trip in local canoes and experience paddling in one of the most beautiful aquatic ecosystems in the world. And if you'd like, you can also enjoy a refreshing dip in the river.

On our return to La Perla, we will have lunch in the ship's dining room and, after a short break, the guides will give a talk on Amazonian Philosophy.

Later, we will meet with the shaman of the San Regis community, a wise elder of the native community who will share with us his knowledge of ancestral rituals, medicinal plants, and the Amazonian worldview. Our guides will act as interpreters should you wish to ask the shaman questions or make comments. Following this authentic experience of reflection and spiritual exploration, we will continue with a tree-planting ceremony, as a contribution to environmental stewardship.

Back on the boat, you can relax with live music while we wait for dinner. After lunch, the guides will tell us about the activities for the following day.

(TUESDAY) DAY 03: AMAZONIAN NATURAL PARK - SHIRIYACU

The early morning hours have a special charm for experiencing the rainforest and offer a unique opportunity for wildlife viewing. Therefore, this morning you also have a boat excursion planned before breakfast. This time, the destination is the Iquitos Ravine, a prime area for observing numerous endemic species. Upon returning to the boat, a buffet breakfast will be served.

After breakfast, we will begin a hike through the jungle to reach the area of the hanging bridges, a set of structures stretched high in the trees that will allow you to walk among the leafy canopies and admire the riches of the jungle from a unique and elevated perspective.

Before noon we will return to the ship for lunch on board and afterwards we will have some free time before the next departure.

Later, we'll be ready for the boat expedition to Shiriyacu Creek. There, we'll look for a suitable spot for piranha fishing using local equipment and techniques. This area is also very popular for observing pink river dolphins.

Upon returning to the ship, we can relax even more with live music and comfort ourselves with a delicious dinner on board.

(WEDNESDAY) DAY 04: NAUTA - AMAZON RIVER - YACAPANA RAVINE

Very early we will leave by boat towards the Gasparito Ravine, it is a very popular area for bird and primate watching.

After breakfast, the bartender awaits us for a demonstration of the Peruvian cocktail, Pisco Sour, the emblematic drink of Peru.

Next, we'll continue with a boat excursion to Marayali Lagoon, another gem for appreciating Amazonian biodiversity. There, we'll be able to observe the "Amazonian Victoria" or "Victoria Regia," the largest aquatic plants on the planet. Before noon, we'll return to the boat for lunch on board and have some free time before our next departure for the Yacapana Canyon, in search of more breathtaking landscapes and emblematic Amazonian species.

Before returning to La Perla, and still in the mountains, we'll enjoy the marvelous light and unparalleled colors that unfold across the sky at these latitudes during sunset. We highly recommend that you relax and savor this moment, as few experiences compare to contemplating the endless colors on the Amazonian horizon, letting night fall and listening to the prodigious symphony of the millions of animals that inhabit the forests and waters of these jungles.

Back on the boat, we'll enjoy a peaceful evening with music and a restorative dinner.

(THURSDAY) DAY 05: UCAYALI RIVER - VISTA ALEGRE - YARAPA-UCAYALI RIVER

At dawn, we will take a boat to head to the banks of the Ucayali River, and observe the beautiful Amazonian birds that fill the thick treetops, a true spectacle of color and life in the heart of the forest.

After this exciting trip and back on the boat, we will enjoy the delicious breakfast buffet that offers a daily selection of traditional dishes, Peruvian specialties, freshly baked homemade products and a variety of fresh juices made with exotic jungle fruits that can only be tasted in the area.

After lunch, we'll be ready to start a new boat trip, but this time on the Yarapa River of the Ucayali. This area is ideal for spotting toucans, parrots, macaws, iguanas, sloths, and monkeys high in the trees.

Back at La Perla, we'll enjoy lunch on board, and after a short break, the guides will give a talk on local Amazonian culture. In the afternoon, we'll visit the village of Vista Alegre to meet the native community and learn about their customs, with the guides acting as interpreters and translators.

On the return trip you can enjoy live music while we wait for dinner on board.

(FRIDAY) DAY 06: NAUTA - IQUITOS - AIRPORT

After breakfast, the guides will give a talk about the Pacaya Samiria Reserve, one of the most amazing jungle reserves in the world, with forests that remain flooded for much of the year.

Later, we will be ready for the boat expedition to the confluence of the Marañón and Ucayali rivers, the majestic jungle location where the Amazon River is born.

Before returning to La Perla, we will explore the Piraña Cocha area, in search of more wildlife.

Back on the boat, we'll serve lunch, and you'll have time to relax and prepare for the next adventure: a hike along the winding jungle trails. The route will take us through the beautiful Casual area, home to poison dart frogs and countless other exotic species. In this area, we'll also see a variety of giant trees known locally as "Avatar." There, those who wish can purchase handcrafted items made by local women, thus contributing to the local economy.

Upon returning to La Perla, we will set aside time to contemplate the Amazonian sunset.

As night falls, you can listen to some live music before the final crew presentation and farewell dinner.

(SUNDAY) DAY 07: NAUTA - IQUITOS

This morning begins peacefully with breakfast on board, but becomes exciting with a visit to the city of Nauta, the second most important in the region. Upon arrival, we'll take a fun mototaxi ride to the city market, where you can interact with colorful characters and learn about the region's unique commercial circuit. We'll visit stalls selling typical food, handicrafts, aphrodisiac drinks, and much more. A true immersion into the life of the Amazonian people.

Back on the ship, we will disembark. On the way to the airport, we will visit the River Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (Amazon Forever Organization), where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, an endangered species rescued by the authorities. We will learn how the manatees are treated and prepared for their release back into their natural habitat. We will also see other rescued animals. Jungle Experiences actively collaborates with this organization and research center. We invite you to support and contribute to this worthy cause.
